Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Chemicals, and Fertilisers Minister said on Saturday that the government has approved the launch of nano liquid DAP fertilizer for the benefit of farmers and to make the country self-sufficient.

IFFCO, which introduced nano liquid urea in 2021, announced on Friday that the government has approved the market launch of its nano DAP fertilizer.

"Another Huge Step Forward For India's Fertilizer and Krishi Industries! The Agriculture Ministry has approved Nano DAP and it has been included in the Fertiliser Control Order "Mandaviya used Twitter.

He went on to say that the nano DAP will improve the lives of Indian farmers and contribute to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

"After nano urea, the government has now approved nano DAP as well," Mandaviya said in a Hindi tweet. He stated that this is yet another step towards achieving self-sufficiency in fertilizers and that it will greatly benefit farmers.

Based on encouraging results, IFFCO managing director U S Awasthi tweeted on March 3rd that the IFFCO Nano DAP had been approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and notified in the Fertiliser Control Order.

"IFFCO will manufacture #NanoDAP; a game changer for Indian agriculture and economy," he said in a tweet.

In December, Awasthi stated that IFFCO would soon launch nano DAP at Rs 600 per 500-ml bottle, a move that will help India save foreign exchange while also significantly reducing government subsidies.

One bottle will be equivalent to one bag of DAP, which costs Rs 1,350 at the moment. He also stated that IFFCO intends to launch nano-potash, nano-zinc, and nano-copper fertilizers.

IFFCO will introduce nano urea in liquid form as an alternative to conventional urea in June 2021. Many manufacturing plants for nano urea have been established in Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh. Nano urea is not subsidized by the government and costs Rs 240 per bottle.

The government provides a significant subsidy for conventional urea to ensure that farmers can obtain the soil nutrient at a reasonable price. Domestic urea production in the country is around 26 million tons, while demand is around 35 million tons. Imports cover the difference. To meet domestic demand, India imports massive amounts of DAP and MoP (muriate of potash).
