In a bid to facilitate direct paddy sowing and provide financial assistance to farmers, the Punjab government has announced an extended deadline for farmer registration on the dedicated online portal. Chief Agriculture Officer, Manjit Singh, confirmed that farmers now have until June 25 to register themselves on the portal and avail of the benefits offered by the government.

Direct paddy sowing offers several advantages, including reduced water consumption, enhanced soil health, and increased cost-effectiveness. Recognizing these benefits, the Punjab government aims to promote and incentivize this practice through the financial assistance program.

Singh urged all farmers to proactively contact the officials of the Agriculture Department to register their acreage on the portal. By doing so, farmers become eligible to receive a financial amount of Rs 1,500 per acre, a scheme introduced by the government to encourage direct paddy sowing. To streamline the registration process, a dedicated website has been set up at https://agrimachinerypb.com/.
