During the G-7 Summit in Hiroshima, Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared his recommendations aimed at enhancing global food security.
During a session titled "Working Together to Address Multiple Crises," Prime Minister Modi emphasized the importance of prioritizing the establishment of an inclusive food system that caters to the needs of the world's most vulnerable populations, particularly marginalized farmers. His remarks highlight India's continued commitment to addressing the challenges faced by developing nations, as evident in his speeches on significant international platforms.
During the G7 Summit, Prime Minister Modi emphasized a 10-point call to action. These points include the need to develop inclusive food systems that safeguard vulnerable communities, particularly marginalized farmers. Additionally, there is an emphasis on embracing millet for its nutritional and environmental benefits, as well as tackling food wastage to strengthen food security.
Another key point highlighted by PM Modi is the depoliticization of global fertilizer supply chains. He also called for the exploration of alternative models to traditional fertilizers. Furthermore, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of developing resilient healthcare systems and promoting holistic healthcare, including the pursuit of traditional medicine practices.
In line with the digital age, PM Modi urged the promotion of digital health to ensure universal health coverage on a global scale. Moreover, he emphasized the significance of facilitating the mobility of healthcare professionals. Lastly, the Prime Minister underscored the need to build development models that prioritize the needs of developing nations over consumerism-driven approaches.

During his address, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in preventing food wastage for sustainable global food security. He also acknowledged the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, which tested the principles of cooperation and humanitarian assistance.
The Prime Minister highlighted that the availability of vaccines and medicines became entangled with political considerations, rather than prioritizing the well-being of humanity. He stressed the need for introspection to ensure future health security.
Prime Minister Modi proposed several key ideas for the advancement of healthcare. These include the development of robust healthcare systems, the promotion, and expansion of traditional medicine through holistic approaches and collaborative research, the adoption of the ‘One Earth - One Health’ principle, and the utilization of digital health technologies to achieve universal health coverage.
During the press conference, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the importance of women-led development and highlighted the inspiring example of Droupadi Murmu, the current female President of India hailing from a tribal area. He also called for the protection and recognition of the rights of transgender individuals.
"Our country's President is a woman who comes from a tribal region. We have allocated 33 percent of seats at the grassroots level for women, making them an integral part of our decision-making process. Furthermore, we have enacted legislation to safeguard the rights of transgender individuals. I'm pleased to inform you that there exists a railway station in India that is entirely operated by transgender individuals," stated Prime Minister Modi.
By reiterating the significance of women's leadership and advocating for the rights of transgender persons, Prime Minister Modi underscored the government's commitment to inclusivity and gender equality.
