The Pusa Krishi Vigyan Mela, which took place from March 2-4, 2023, on the enormous campus of the Indian Agricultural Research Institute in New Delhi with the theme of "Nutritional, Food and Environmental security through Millets (Shree Anna)," came to an end.

At the Valedictory Ceremony, Shri Kailash Choudhary, Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, was the special guest of honor.

The chief guest and other dignitaries were welcomed by Dr. Ashok Kumar Singh, Director of ICAR-IARI. During the ceremony, six Fellow Farmers and 42 Innovative Farmers with the 'IARI Innovative Farmer Award,' including women farmers, were honored.

Shri Kailash Choudhary stated in his address that India's farm output increased from 265 million Tons in 2013-14 to 315 MT last year and is expected to reach 324 MT this fiscal year. According to him, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has set the objective of achieving four stages of farmer welfare, including superior quality seeds, lower labor costs, improved storage and transportation, and the facilitation of markets that offer farmers' produce at fair market rates.

The Agricultural Ministry has instructed ICAR, according to Kailash Choudhary, to make sure that at least 25% of agricultural land is farmed using organic and natural farming methods. For nutritional security, he emphasized the significance of attempting to produce millet types. He emphasized the importance of new and innovative farm technologies in ensuring food and environmental security. He claimed that to win farmers' trust, new crop types and technology have to be introduced swiftly and tested on farmland.

According to Choudhary, to boost the income of small and marginal farmers, the government is attempting to increase the use of technology in agriculture through several programmes, including the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana, the Soil Health Card Scheme, Organic Agriculture, and the Traditional Agriculture Development Scheme.

Dr. Himanshu Pathak, Secretary, DARE & Director General, ICAR, announced on the occasion that each ICAR Institute will conduct a training programme for farmers each year. He asserted that Pragati (progress) and Prakriti (nature) must coexist. Dr. Pathak claimed that Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates tweeted that India's agricultural research institute is the best in the world after his recent two-hour visit to ICAR-IARI at the Pusa Campus.

The Pusa Krishi Vigyan Mela-2023 attracted a large number of farmers from all over the nation who benefited from seeing live demonstrations of climate-resilient wheat, mustard, lentil, chickpea, vegetables, flowers, and fruit crops as well as learning advanced information about the integrated farming system model. During the valedictory ceremony, Dr. Rabindra Nath Padaria, Joint Director (Extension), Dr. JPS Dabaas, In-charge, CATAT, ICAR-IARI, and other dignitaries were also present.

ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute organized the massive event. Several ICAR institutes from across the country took part in the three-day mega farmers' fair, which featured special exhibitions on millets (Shree Anna), farmer-friendly technologies, innovations, and products.
