CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan & Union Minister Piyush Goyal Lay Foundation Stone of PM MITRA Park for Textile Industry
The Union Ministry of Textiles has approved the establishment of seven PM MITRA Parks in seven states across the country, with a total cost of Rs 4,445 crores. Madhya Pradesh is among the states chosen to house one of these parks.
On Sunday, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Union Minister Piyush Goyal commenced the foundation stone laying ceremony for the PM MITRA Park, a textile industry initiative, in Dhar district. This significant development aims to boost investment and employment opportunities in the region, according to an official statement.
In addition to the foundation stone laying ceremony, Chief Minister Chouhan also participated in the 'Mukhyamantri Ladli Bahna Sammelan' at Gandhwani in the district. During the event, he will distribute 4012 lands right pattas under the 'Mukhyamantri Awasiya Bhu Adhikar Yojana.' Furthermore, he performed the 'bhoomi-pujan' (groundbreaking ceremony) and inaugurate various development projects worth Rs 417.42 crores.
The official statement revealed that 19 companies have already expressed their keen interest in investing in the PM Mega Integrated Textile Regions and Apparel (PM MITRA) Park. It is estimated that an impressive amount of over Rs 6,000 crores will be invested, leading to the creation of approximately 50,000 direct job opportunities and 1.50 lakh indirect employment opportunities through the establishment of this park.
The central government received a total of 18 proposals from 13 states for the establishment of these parks, and after careful consideration, the proposals from seven states were selected. The Madhya Pradesh government had offered four options to the central government, including Bhensola in Dhar district, Pipalrawan in Dewas district, Ratlam, and Katni. Bhensola has been chosen as the location for the park.

The PM MITRA Parks aims to provide excellent infrastructure, plug-and-play facilities, as well as training and research opportunities for the textile industry.
Spanning approximately 1,563 acres, the PM MITRA Park is situated in Bhensola village, Dhar district. The land is currently under the possession of the Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC). The strategic location of the park includes being 110 km away from Indore, 85 km from the Pithampur Industrial cluster, 50 km from Ratlam and the Delhi Mumbai expressway, and 452 km from the nearest port, Hazira.

The central government has committed to providing financial aid of Rs 500 crore in two phases for the development of this park. All the benefits available in the industry promotion policy of Madhya Pradesh will be extended to the park. To facilitate the park's development, a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) will be established, with the state government holding a 51% stake and the central government holding a 49% stake.
The PM MITRA Parks are expected to create a world-class industrial infrastructure that will attract substantial investment, including foreign direct investment (FDI). These parks will stimulate innovation, and job creation, and contribute to making India a global hub for textile manufacturing and exports. By achieving economies of scale and attracting global players, the textile industry's competitiveness will be significantly enhanced.
In March of this year, the government announced the locations for the establishment of the seven PM Mega Integrated Textile Regions and Apparel (PM MITRA) Parks across Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, & Uttar Pradesh.
