Tech-Savvy Telangana Couple Thrive in Horticulture Transformation, Earn Rs 5k Per Day
The couple, adhering closely to guidance from horticulture and agriculture authorities, now earns a daily income ranging from Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000.
A couple with a strong background in technology from Telangana has transitioned into prosperous farmers by pioneering innovative horticultural methods. Karra Srikanth Reddy and Anusha Reddy, originally from Jangapally village in Karimnagar district, Telangana, have earned national acclaim as extraordinary farmers for their pioneering efforts and dedication to cultivating alternative crops.
Srikanth and Anusha were once professionals in the software industry, based in Hyderabad. However, the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic prompted them to return to their hometown and work remotely. During this period, they decided to embark on a new journey of full-time farming on their 5-acre land, adopting modern agricultural practices.
Their farming journey began with the cultivation of various flower crops, including roses, marigolds, chrysanthemums, sunflowers, and lilies, with each type occupying an acre of their land. They adopted innovative farming techniques such as mulching for the rose, chrysanthemum, and marigold crops.

They implemented a drip irrigation system to provide accurate water distribution in their fields. Additionally, they installed electric bulbs to regulate and maintain the optimal temperature required for cultivating chrysanthemums.
Motivated by their passion for farming, the Reddy couple approached in this journey with modern and cost-effective methods, considering it an experimental venture. Their initial attempts yielded significant success, leading them to encourage fellow farmers to embrace alternative crop cultivation on a larger scale. They firmly believe that such crops can substantially enhance the financial well-being of farmers, who are crucial contributors to the nation's food supply.

The couple diligently followed the guidance provided by horticulture and agriculture authorities, resulting in daily earnings ranging from Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000. Notably, the market value of one quintal of safflower seeds, a crop they cultivate, ranges from Rs 5,000 to Rs 6,000. With their efficient practices, they anticipate producing approximately 10 quintals of safflower seeds per acre.
Their journey transitioning from tech professionals to successful model farmers signifies the power of determination and commitment. Their story highlights the potential for transformation that awaits those who have adopted alternative crop cultivation using modern approaches.
