Critical to the process is the assessment of shell quality. After a week of meticulous examination in a separate tank, Naveen expertly conducts a precise surgical procedure. This involves implanting nuclei and muscles into the shells, marking a pivotal stage in the cultivation process.

Once the shells are ready, they are moved to larger tanks. Every entry is carefully logged, marking the beginning of a transformation that takes an entire year for the pearl to form within the shell. This patience and meticulous record-keeping enable Naveen to calculate the perfect moment to separate the pearl from its shell.

While the initial investment of each mussel is a mere Rs 200 at the Rackham Market in Karnataka, the pearls he nurtures command significantly higher prices when sold online, ranging from Rs 1,000 to 1,500 rupees.
