E-Shram Portal: Objectives, Registration, Eligibility, and more

The data includes name, occupation, address, educational qualification, skill types, and family details, among other things, to understand their employability and extend the benefits of social security schemes to them. It is the nation's first national database of unorganized workers, which includes migrant workers, construction workers, gig and platform workers, and others.

Objectives of e-Shram 

The main goal is to create a centralized database of every construction worker, migrant worker, gig and platform worker, street vendor, domestic worker, agriculture worker, and so on, to implement social security services for them and share their information with various stakeholders to deliver welfare schemes.

The next goal is to make social security and welfare benefits portable for migrant and construction workers, as well as to provide a comprehensive database to central and state governments for dealing with future national crises.

Who can register on the e-Shram Portal? 

Anyone who meets the following requirements can register on the portal:

  1.  A disorganized worker. An unorganized worker is any worker who works from home, is self-employed, or works for a wage in the unorganized sector.
  2. You must be between the ages of 16 and 59.
  3. You are not a member of EPFO/ESIC or the NPS.

Can farmers also have an e-shram card, according to the rules?

The e-Shram Card: A growing number of people are having their e-shram cards made in India these days. The e-shram card was created specifically for laborers and workers in the unorganized sector. Having this card made provides you with numerous advantages. 

The Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana provides e-shram cardholders with a Rs 2 lakh insurance cover. Apart from that, by appearing in government records, their chances of finding work improve. Workers can take advantage of various ambitious government schemes by using an e-shram card. Farmers in rural areas may wonder if they can also obtain an e-shram card.

What information is required for registration?

To register on the portal, an individual must have the following three pieces of information:

  1. Aadhar card number.
  2. Aadhaar-linked mobile number if a worker does not have an Aadhaar-linked mobile number, he or she can register through biometric authentication at the nearest CSC.
  3. Savings account number and IFSC code.

  • The first benefit is that, once you reach the age of 60, you will begin receiving a pension of Rs 3000 (Minimum).
  • Second, you will have full insurance coverage for any accidents that may occur up to the age of 60.
  • You can purchase insurance for Rs. 50,000 in the event of an accident.
  • All benefits will be transferred to the beneficiary's wife in the unfortunate event that the beneficiary passes away.
  • You must make a monthly contribution using your E Shram Card, and the Government of India will credit the same amount.
  • If you have your E Shram Card or Shramik Card, you are eligible for any government schemes for workers.

E-Shram Card Registration 

The following are the step-by-step registration procedures for the E Shram Card; check out the following step-by-step and register to get an E Shram Card if you are an Unorganized Worker.

  • To register for the E Shram Card, go to the E Shram official website at @eshram.gov.in.
  • After visiting the official portal, a REGISTER on the e-Shram option will be visible; click on it.
  • After clicking on the REGISTER option on e-Shram, a new page will appear where you will be asked to enter the Aadhaar Number and CAPTCHA Code and then hit the Send OTP button.
  • After pressing the Send OTP button, a six-digit OTP will be sent to the Aadhaar Card registered mobile number; enter the OTP and proceed to the next web page.
  • On the following web page, you will be asked to enter and upload the required credentials, fill in the details and upload the requested documents, and then finalize the registration procedure. Once you have completed the registration, you will receive your E Shram Card.
