Satyam Kumar, hailing from the heartland of Bihar and born into a humble farmer's family, went on a remarkable journey that began at the tender age of 12 and culminated in an extraordinary achievement, cracking the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology-Joint Entrance Examination (IIT-JEE) at just 13 years old.
Farmer's Son Rises
Born on July 20, 1999, into a family with no history of formal education, Satyam Kumar's early brilliance proved to be very significant for the future world. His father, Siddharth Singh, and mother, Pramila Singh, recognized his talent and made a pivotal decision that would change the course of his life, admitting him to Central Public School, Patna, at a remarkably young age, in IX Standard.
Cracking the IIT-JEE Barrier, Breaking Records at 13
In the year 2013, Satyam Kumar embedded his name into the Indian academic history. He achieved the 670th rank in the IIT-JEE, becoming the youngest Indian to accomplish this extraordinary feat. In doing so, he shattered the previous record held by Delhi's Sahal Kaushik, who had achieved this milestone at the age of 14 in 2010.

Journey Fueled by Determination

Completing Higher Education at 24
After clearing the IIT-JEE exam at the age of 12, Satyam's thirst for excellence drove him to retake the examination, setting his sights on a higher rank. In the following year, his spirit paid off as he secured a suitable rank of 679. His academic journey continued as he pursued higher education. He completed his BTech-MTech Dual Degree in Electrical Engineering at the prestigious IIT Kanpur in 2018. Subsequently, he embarked on a new adventure, joining the University of Texas at Austin for his Ph.D.

Satyam Kumar's journey is not just a story of academic success. He specializes in brain-computer interfaces, working as a graduate research assistant, and has contributed significantly to the field.
His journey took him to renowned institutions such as ETH Zurich and Inria, and he even graced Apple Inc. with his expertise as a Machine Learning(ML) Intern until August 2023. In an interview back in 2013, Satyam expressed his aspirations, including the desire to develop something adjacent to Facebook and dreams of a future in the bureaucracy. He envisions himself teaching the children of his home district, leaving an indelible mark on their lives.
