Red bananas are a group of varieties of bananas with reddish-purple skin. Some are smaller and plumper than the common banana, others much larger.

Red bananas are a subgroup of bananas from Southeast Asia. Red banana is also known as the Colorado banana, Musa acuminata, Dacca, Cuban, Spanish banana, or Lal Kela.

Thane, Jalgaon, and Solapur districts of Maharashtra cultivate Red bananas. With increasing demands North Indian states are showing interest in Red Banana farming.
