Venkataysamy Vignesh Quits Job at Infosys to Grow Brinjal in Japan, Doubled His Income
Vignesh, who is originally from Kovilpatti in Tamil Nadu's Thoothukudi district, highlighted that by caring for his family's farms throughout the lockdown, he was able to reignite his enthusiasm for farming.
Coming from an agricultural background and securing a job in a well-regarded software company Infosys in Chennai gave the 27-year-old Venkatasamy Vignesh and his family a stable income and joy. However, their joy was brief as Vignesh decided to resign from his position at Infosys to pursue a career in farming. Currently, Vignesh is earning twice his previous salary being employed at a brinjal farm situated in Japan.
Vignesh, who is originally from Kovilpatti in Tamil Nadu's Thoothukudi district, highlighted that by caring for his family's farms throughout the lockdown, he was able to reignite his enthusiasm for farming. This realization convinced him that agriculture was his genuine calling.
On the contrary, Vignesh's family was opposed to his decision to make a career in agriculture since they believed there was no significant monetary benefit in the field. They would rather prefer he pursues a job with a steady source of income. Vignesh, on the other hand, discovered a potential opportunity in Japan, which gave him renewed optimism.
“After learning about an institute that offers Japanese language and culture training followed by job placement assistance in Japan, I decided to enroll myself based on my friend's recommendation,” said Vignesh.
Nihon Edutech, in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), acts as a sending organization for participants in the Specified Skill Workers (SSW) and Technical Intern Training Program (TITP), providing them with Japanese language, and culture etiquette, and technical training to help them secure placements in Japan. Nihon Edutech-CII has dispatched over 200 skilled individuals to Japan in industries ranging from vehicle and machine maintenance to manufacturing, agriculture, caregiving, and construction.
According to a statement of Krishnan Narayan, the founder of Nihon Edutech, Vignesh was deemed suitable for the agriculture position in Japan due to possessing both the necessary farming background and a willingness to acquire proficiency in the Japanese language and gain knowledge of novel Japanese agricultural methodologies.
