Uttar Pradesh Is Capable To Function As India's Growth Engine: President Droupadi Murmu At UP Global Investors Summit 2023
The UP Global Investors Summit, according to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, attracted investment proposals worth 33.5 lakh crore.
President Droupadi Murmu said on Sunday that Uttar Pradesh is capable and ready to function as India's growth engine, following the conclusion of the UP Global Investors Summit, which attracted investment proposals worth 33.5 lakh crore, according to chief minister Yogi Adityanath.
"Uttar Pradesh, which has the highest population in the country, also has the highest economic contribution. I am grateful to the state's farmers and entrepreneurs for their efforts. Uttar Pradesh is 'saksham' (proficient) and 'taiyar' (prepared) to play the role of India's growth engine," Murmu said. "When India becomes a $5 trillion economy, Uttar Pradesh will contribute one-fifth of its GDP."
In the run-up to the high-profile summit, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated that the state aims to become a $ 1 trillion economy in the next five years.
"Uttar Pradesh leads India in total food grain production, including wheat. It also produces the most sugarcane and potatoes in the country. This state also contributes the most to mango and pea production," the President said, emphasizing that the state has a lot of potential for agro-based enterprises.
Murmu congratulated Adityanath and his team on the state attracting such large investment, adding that efforts to boost the state's economy will also strengthen the Atmanirbhar Bharat ambition. "The 33.5 lakh crore investment will provide jobs for lakhs of people," she added.
She believes that if Uttar Pradesh becomes more prosperous, India will follow suit. "The government of Uttar Pradesh has envisioned and implemented long-term policies," Murmu said. "Uttar Pradesh is capable and ready to serve as the new India's growth engine."
Adityanath stated at the summit's valedictory session, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, that the three-day event will help make Uttar Pradesh a "trillion-dollar economy, the largest in the country."
Adityanath announced that the UPGIS-2023 has attracted investment proposals worth 33.5 lakh crore and that his government will form groups of ministers (GoMs) and deploy senior officers to carry out the memorandums of understanding (MoUs) signed for investment in Uttar Pradesh.
The idea that investing in Uttar Pradesh meant doing so in areas of the state that are included in the National Capital Region was disproved at the summit, according to Adityanath. The investment proposals for all 75 of Uttar Pradesh's districts have finally been received, he noted.
The two most underdeveloped regions of the state, Eastern UP and Bundelkhand, have received investment proposals totaling 9.54 lakh crore and 4.27 lakh crore, respectively, according to the chief minister.
Gautam Buddha Nagar received investment proposals totaling 7.85 lakh crore (or 27.14% of the total investment) during the summit, followed by Agra with 2.18 lakh crore (7.54%), Lucknow with 1.96 lakh crore (6.79%), Gorakhpur with 1.71 lakh crore (5.93%), and Varanasi with 1.37 lakh crore (4.75%). Jhansi (1.35 lakh crore, or 4.70%) and Ghaziabad (1.05 lakh crore, or 3.66%) are two additional districts with investment proposals exceeding 1 lakh crore.
