Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday for the central government's decision to raise the fair and remunerative price (FRP) of sugarcane. Adityanath marked the move as a significant step towards the prosperity and self-reliance of farmers.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, recently approved an increase in the FRP for the 2023-24 sugarcane season starting in October. The revised FRP stands at Rs 315 per quintal.

Taking to Twitter, Adityanath thanked the prime minister and expressed his admiration for the decision, stating, ''The decision taken by the Union Cabinet under the leadership of respected Prime Minister Narendra Modi to approve the highest-ever fair and remunerative price (FRP) of sugarcane to Rs 315 per quintal for the sugar season 2023-24 is highly commendable.''

He further emphasized the positive impact of the decision on sugarcane farmers, noting, ''This decision will provide new dimensions to the sugarcane farmers' journey to prosperity. The present-day embodiment of a thriving India lies in its prosperous farmers." The rise in FRP not only brings advantages to the five crore sugarcane farmers in Uttar Pradesh but also positively influences the livelihoods of numerous sugar mill workers.

The increased FRP will ensure that farmers receive fair compensation for their efforts and encourage greater participation in sugarcane cultivation.

Apart from benefiting farmers, the revised FRP will also have a ripple effect on the overall rural economy. With higher returns on their produce, farmers will have increased purchasing power, which in turn can stimulate the local economy and generate employment opportunities.

The move aligns with the government's ongoing efforts to prioritize the welfare of farmers and promote a self-reliant India. By enhancing the financial security of sugarcane farmers, the government aims to bolster agricultural productivity and rural development.
