Union Minister Tomar Commends Tripura's Organic Farming Initiatives, Launches Famous Queen Pineapple

The launch of Tripura's organic Queen Pineapple and the appreciation of the state's organic farming endeavours by Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar underscore the significant progress being made in sustainable agriculture practices in the North Eastern region.

During a function held at Delhi Haat in Delhi, Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Narendra Singh Tomar officially launched Tripura's renowned organic Queen Pineapple. Minister Tomar lauded the Tripura government for its exceptional efforts in embracing organic farming.  

In his address, Union Minister Tomar expressed that the development of the North Eastern region is a top priority for the Government of India, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He emphasized that the central government has been continuously working towards the progress of the region, thanks to Prime Minister Modi's unwavering encouragement.

Tomar highlighted the significant success achieved in organic farming in the North Eastern region. He mentioned that Sikkim has been declared an organic state, and Tripura is also making commendable progress in this regard. The agriculture sector in the states of the Northeast has witnessed notable advancements, with its products making a mark in the global market and experiencing increased exports. The Union Minister stressed that there is still immense potential for the development of agriculture and horticulture in the North Eastern region, and farmers are reaping the benefits of organic farming.

"The North East region has been a matter of concern for all of us, which was previously neglected and received inadequate budget allocations. However, since PM Modi assumed office, the sector has garnered full attention. The Prime Minister himself has visited the Northeast 52 times in 9 years, and Union Ministers have also made regular visits under his guidance. The aim is to address any challenges faced by the Northeast and pave the way for its development," stated the Union Minister.

The event was attended by Ratan Lal Nath, Tripura's Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Power. Speaking at the event, Tripura's Agriculture Minister Nath announced, "For the next two months, various pineapple production materials will be distributed free of cost at this exhibition in Delhi Haat. The primary objective is to promote Queen Pineapple. Additionally, discussions have begun with traders to popularize pineapple throughout the country and facilitate its export abroad."

Minister Nath further stated that the Department of Agriculture has taken initiatives to ensure that pineapple farmers in the state receive fair prices for their produce.
