Union Minister Rupala Chairs Meeting to Enhance Veterinary Services to Minimise Animal Diseases

Recognizing this, the Department of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying is committed to expanding the availability and accessibility of high-quality veterinary services.
The Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, Shri Parshottam Rupala, presided over the Inter-Session Meeting of the Consultative Committee attached to his Ministry today. The meeting, held in Srinagar, focused on the "Strengthening of Veterinary Services through Mobile Units and Implementation of Vaccination Programme in the country."
Joining the minister were Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Balyan, the Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, Dr. L. Murugan, the Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, Members of Parliament, and members of the Parliament Consultative Committee.
During the meeting, discussions centered around various aspects of improving veterinary services in India, with a specific emphasis on mobile units and the implementation of a nationwide vaccination program. Shri Parshottam Rupala underscored the significance of livestock and poultry as vital contributors to the socio-economic well-being of rural communities. He stressed the importance of enhancing veterinary health services to minimize economic losses caused by animal diseases.
The Members of Parliament commended the Department for its efforts in developing Mobile Veterinary Units (MVUs), which receive 100% central assistance and are easily accessible through the uniform toll-free number 1962. Additionally, they shared valuable suggestions to further enhance the current veterinary services. These recommendations were welcomed by the Minister, who assured the Committee that the Department would take appropriate action to address them.
