In the heart of Tripura, agriculture reigns as the cornerstone of the economy, contributing a substantial 43 percent to the total GDP. Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Ratan Lal Nath, highlighted the government's full commitment to promote agricultural growth and the well-being of the dedicated farmers.

A remarkable moment unfolded as Minister Nath presented 401 young and promising individuals with job offer letters. These bright minds have successfully secured roles within the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, and their path to becoming Agri Assistants (Tripura Agriculture Field Service Grade-III) was forged through the JRBT examination.

 

Nath stressed the significance of transitioning from traditional to modern and scientific farming practices, with agricultural workers playing a pivotal role in guiding our farmers toward embracing these progressive methods. Currently, the state boasts 460 Agri Assistants, with 401 more joining their ranks on this auspicious day.

 

Speaking at the job offer letter handover ceremony, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath said that the Tripura government is committed to the development of the agriculture sector and the welfare of the farmers. He emphasized that modern and scientific farming is essential for the advancement of the sector and the welfare of the farmers.

In the age of technology, the minister further highlighted the integral role of machinery in various aspects of agriculture, including land management, irrigation, seed sowing, and crop cultivation. The Department of Agriculture is collaborating closely with all the farmers, equipping them with cutting-edge agricultural tools to spearhead a modern farming era. Additionally, farmers receive thorough training to stay ahead in current agricultural methods.

 

The minister added that if the farmers are self-reliant, the development of the country and the state will accelerate. He also said that there is some shortfall in the production of foodgrains in terms of demand and that the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare is working to increase the production of agricultural products in the state. The Agri Assistants will play a vital role in helping the farmers to adopt modern and scientific methods of farming, which will lead to increased productivity and income.

The event was graced by the presence of Apurba Roy, Secretary of the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department, and Sharadindu Das, Director of the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department, along with other dignitaries. 

 

The recruitment of 401 Agri Assistants is a significant step towards the development of the agriculture sector in Tripura, an investment in the future of the state and its people.
