Telangana Farmers Claim, Detergent as a Perfect Solution to Eradicate Pests

In order to protect his crop from pests at a low cost, a farmer from Telangana has been earning a nice living by using liquid detergents in his farming.

Kunarapu Ramesh is a native of the Anthargam Mandal in the Telangana hamlet of Rayadandi. For the past 25 years, he has been farming on his 0.75-acre plot of land.

At first, he attempted to cultivate paddy crops on his property, but the results were dismal. As a result, he was forced to produce alternate crops. Then he became inspired to implement the agricultural practices based on detergent that farmers in other states were employing.

Ramesh planted vegetable seeds, such as those for tomatoes, bottle gourds, bitter gourds, ridge gourds, and brinjals. Ramesh sprayed the crop in a 0.25-acre area with a solution of liquid detergent (40 ml), vinegar (40 ml), and baking soda (40 ml) mixed with water from a 16-liter can. On a 0.75-acre plot of land, he three times sprayed solution.

"I'll apply the mixture twice monthly. It usually takes 45 days for the first harvest to mature. I will receive the alternate crop days after 45 days. About 1.5 quintals of vegetables are consumed by me every other day. In comparison to regular pesticide users, I am getting better yields,” Ramesh stated.

Additionally, he said that with just 0.75 acres, he is making roughly Rs. 45,000 per month.
