A workshop on "Innovative Technology in Crop Protection" was first held at Warangal, Telangana, by CropLife India, an association of agricultural science organizations with a focus on both Indian and international R&D. The Foundation for Agricultural Sustainability and Transformation (FAST) and CropLife India collaborated to organize the programme. The event included a presentation on Kisan Drones and their benefits for agriculture as well as a discussion on the significance of millets for both growers and consumers.

Usha Dayal, the District Agricultural Officer for Warangal, gave a speech at the event and said, "With the advent of Kisan Drones, drones are becoming the Indian farmers' new best friend, helping to save time and money, and increase output and production. The federal and state governments are making every effort to make using drones easier."

"The outreach work being done by CropLife India towards Integrated Pest Management techniques, like the importance of beneficial insects, including pollinators, judicious and responsible crop protection product use, secure crop protection product storage, impacts of counterfeit and illegal products, use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), correct spraying techniques, and triple rinsing of used containers, are highly beneficial for farmers," Dayal continued.

"We believe that with all of the favorable policy support coming in from the government, the conducive ecosystem needs to be nurtured in order to ensure faster adoption of drones in Indian agriculture," said Durgesh Chandra, Secretary General of CropLife India. "To achieve this, all ecosystem stakeholders—government, agricultural universities, research institutions, corporates, industry associations, drone training institutes, drone manufacturers, drone service providers, FPOs, farmers, and agri & rural entrepreneurs—must collaborate."

"Our member companies are looking into ways to accelerate the adoption of Kisan Drones. As a result, the demand for customized Drone-as-a-Service models (Agricultural applications and crop protection) is expected to skyrocket in the coming years. Early adoption of innovative agricultural technologies has increased relevance at a time when India is poised to increase millet usage globally," Chandra added.

CropLife India distributed mini PPE kits and key safe-use message pamphlets during the 'Innovative Technologies in Crop Protection' programme for quick reference and further dissemination.

National awardee farmers, FAST officials, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) scientists and extension officers, farmer producer organizations (FPOs), CropLife India member companies, and other officials were in attendance.

To allow a safe and secure food supply, CropLife India is dedicated to promoting agriculture in India and actively engaging with the government and farming community. According to the business association, CropLife India pledges full support for any government measures that are progressive and practical for farmers and India's sustainable agriculture.
