Swaraj Tractors was founded in the 1960s, during the Green Revolution, when the government was heavily supporting automation in order to fulfill the food need of India's fast-growing population. Because most participants in the tractor sector were foreign-based and too expensive for the Indian market, the government was searching for Indian enterprises to help with mechanization. Swaraj Tractors were the only locally made tractors to contribute to the green revolution by developing tractors that were specifically intended to meet the demands of Indian farmers and were far less expensive than imported tractor brands.

Did you know that the first indigenously developed tractor was appropriately named Swaraj, which means economic liberty, as it freed millions of Indian farmers from expensive tractor imports?

Swaraj joined the Mahindra Group in 2007, and has been developing and gaining people's hearts ever since. Because it is the second-largest tractor brand, it has a high level of brand recognition.

In order to close this gap, Swaraj launched their multipurpose machine, CODE - an indigenously designed farm mechanization solution, conceived with the idea of eliminating the drudgery of labor involved in horticulture farming - last year in the month of November.

Swaraj CODE is a small, light machine designed to fit into the tiny rows of horticultural fields, allowing farmers to carry out their tasks without uprooting the vegetables and fruits. CODE will be available shortly through Swaraj dealerships in Gujarat, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana, with a staggered roll-out to other states.

It boasts an 11.1 horsepower Petrol engine and excellent agility thanks to its decreased turning radius and bidirectional driving, which allows farmers to effortlessly manoeuvre between agricultural rows.
