Swaraj Launches CODE, a Tractor Especially for Farmers Working in the Field of Horticulture

With the help of machines like CODE, more land could be cultivated which could lead to the increase in income of farmers,”

Swaraj tractors a subsidiary of the Mahindra Group Thursday launched CODE a tractor especially built and customized for farmers working in the field of horticulture. 

Shaped like an ATV Bike it’s a narrow and lightweight machine specifically meant to fit through the narrow rows of horticulture farms to allow farmers to carry out their operations without fear of uprooting the vegetables and fruits. 

It comes with a 12 horsepower Petrol engine and additionally has better manoeuvrability due to its shorter turning radius which helps farmers to manoeuvre between the rows of the farms easily. 

According to the Chief executive Officer of Swaraj Tractors, “The company is trying to bring new solutions in the area of horticulture where currently there is not much mechanization...we are actually wanting to pioneer this space. With the help of machines like CODE, more land could be cultivated which could lead to the increase in income of farmers,” 

He also went on to say that the horticulture farms in the country had a huge potential to be mechanised and hence CODE by the Swaraj tractors was specifically built for this very purpose. After gathering a lot of insights from the farmers and needs. 

Horticulture is a field that contributes to around 30.4 per cent of Agri GDP, yet in recent years in India a lot of animals and human labour has been involved in this field, hence CODE which is an effort by the Swaraj tractors is an attempt to mechanise this sector. 

Hemant Sikka, President of Mahindra & Mahindra (Farm Equipment Sector), stated that with horticulture's rising percentage of India's Agri GDP over the years, there is an urgent need to focus on this area for increased productivity. 

"With the launch of CODE, we aim to provide easy access to affordable and innovative technology to the farming community," he stated. 

CODE will first be available through Swaraj dealerships in Gujarat, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana, before gradually expanding to additional states.
