State-Level Agriculture Machine Training Programme for SC/ST Youths Starts in Wayanad

On 25th January, a state-level training programme on agriculture machine operation for SC and ST youths began at the M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation. Organised by the Foundation with the support of the Kerala State Council for Science Technology and Environment and the Department of Science and Technology, this 21-day programme aims to train the youths to operate modern farming implements, maintain, and repair them.

On 25th January, a state-level training programme on agriculture machine operation for SC and ST youths began at the M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation.

Organised by the Foundation with the support of the Kerala State Council for Science Technology and Environment and the Department of Science and Technology, this 21-day programme aims to train the youths to operate modern farming implements, maintain, and repair them.

Training

Principal Agriculture Officer in charge A. Raji inaugurated the programme in Wayanad.  A total number of 35 selected youths from across the State have joined the programme. They are being trained in operating a tractor, power tiller, weed cutter, coconut de-husking machines, coconut and areca nut climbers, and earth augers.

M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation is a non-profit research institution established by Prof MS Swaminathan. The main aim of the institution is to use contemporary science for sustainable agriculture and rural development.
