Shivraj Singh Chouhan- G-20 Summit Will Bring New Solutions To Boost Agricultural Productivity
The G-20 meeting will produce solutions such as new technologies for increasing farm productivity, which will be critical in addressing global food security concerns, said Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan here on Monday.
Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, has stated that India will play a critical role in ensuring global food security. He stated that food security is a critical issue for the entire world. Mr. Chouhan was speaking to the media after delivering his inaugural address at the first meeting of India's G20 Presidency's Agriculture Working Group in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The three-day meeting started today.
The G-20 meeting will produce solutions such as new technologies for increasing farm productivity, which will be critical in addressing global food security concerns, said Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan here on Monday.
Chouhan told the first Agriculture Deputies' Meeting that the need of the hour is to focus on three main areas: increasing production, lowering cultivation costs, and ensuring better prices for farmers. According to him, India is already working in this direction.
"As the world's population grows, food security becomes a major concern. By 2030, global foodgrains demand is expected to be 345 million tonnes, up from 192 million tonnes in 2000," said the minister.
Agriculture is only possible on 12% of the world's arable land. He believes that neither land nor natural resources will increase in value.
To meet future food demand, it is, therefore, necessary to better utilize land and natural resources, as well as increase farm productivity.
"I am confident that the G-20 summit will help boost the farm sector by connecting new technologies through local organizations," the Minister added. Speaking separately to the media, the Chief Minister emphasized the global food security challenges posed by the rising population.
Apart from the allied farm sector, the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister also inaugurated an exhibition that showcased millets and their value-added food products.
Climate-smart initiatives, adoption of climate-smart technology by small farmers, agriculture market information systems, wheat initiatives, agriculture risk management, and food loss reduction will all be covered in depth during the three-day event.
Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia will be present on the second day.
