The Sabic Agri-Nutrients Company (Sabic AN), which is a publicly owned joint-stock company and owned 50.1% by Sabic, has shipped 5,000 metric tonnes of Commercial Low Carbon Ammonia to the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) for the benefit of Indian farmers.

Sabic Agri-Nutrients has made history by dispatching a shipment from Jubail, Saudi Arabia, and becoming the first company to introduce low-carbon ammonia to the Indian fertilizer sector.

The recipient of this shipment, IFFCO, also makes history by becoming the first Indian company to utilize low-carbon ammonia for fertilizer production, which aligns with India's goal to achieve net-zero emissions by 2070.

Abdulrahman Shamsaddin, CEO, Sabic AN, stated "Sabic Agri-Nutrients has publicly declared its goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, along with a promise to work closely with its customers to help them attain their net-zero emission targets. To facilitate this, the company has introduced low-carbon ammonia, which enables its Indian customers to make progress toward meeting their carbon-neutrality commitments. The recent shipment of this low-carbon ammonia to India is a significant achievement for Sabic and demonstrates its unwavering dedication to developing sustainable, low-carbon solutions that benefit the world."

In 2020, Sabic collaborated with Aramco and the Institute of Energy Economics, Japan (IEEJ) to export low-carbon Ammonia to Japan.

In 2022, Sabic AN and Aramco received certification from TÜV Rheinland, a prominent independent agency for testing, inspection, and certification based in Germany, for producing low-carbon ammonia and clean hydrogen. This certification is the first of its kind in the world, indicating a significant achievement for the companies involved in reducing carbon emissions.
