Rythu Bima Scheme-Over 90K Telangana Farmer Families Receive Rs 4.8 Crore
Under the Rythu Bandhu welfare scheme, it was presented during the meeting that around 65 lakh farmers had received Rs.65,191 crore. The Chief Secretary also praised that many agriculture goals were achieved after the state formation.
On Wednesday, at a review meeting with the agriculture department at BRKR Bhavan Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari said, over 97,913 farmers in the state have received nearly Rs 4,896 crore under the Rythu Bima.
In 2018 KCR Government introduced the Rythu Bima Welfare Scheme or Farmers Group Life Insurance Scheme. It is launched to offer financial relief and social security to farmers or their families in cases of farmer deaths. Farmers between the age group of 18-59 years can get the benefit of this insurance.
Under the Rythu Bandhu welfare scheme, it was presented during the meeting that around 65 lakh farmers had received Rs.65,191 crore. The Chief Secretary also praised that many agriculture goals were achieved after the state formation.
Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari said, “The aim of one crore acres of Magani has been procured because of the pro-agricultural policies. Efficient Schemes such as the Rythu Bima, Rythu Bandhu, 24-hour electricity supply, and purchase of agricultural produce, have given a big uplift and support to farmers.”
She added, “The crop is cultivated on one crore twenty lakh acres of the land statewide total during the Yasangi season and Vanakalam season. After rice, cotton is grown on a total of 56.37 lakh acres of land. In order, Telangana is the second and third in rice and cotton production.”
To inform and educate the farmers on new agriculture tools, implements, and technologies, a steering committee has been made under the Chairmanship of the Chief Secretary.
The Chief Secretary also gave ideas for encouraging horticulture among the farming community and growing more vegetables.
