Rythu Bandhu Benefit Disbursement Rescheduled to Nov 28 for Farmers in State

In a recent announcement, Finance Minister T Harish Rao declared that farmers in Telangana would receive the much-anticipated Rythu Bandhu benefit starting Monday. However, due to a sequence of bank holidays and regulatory restrictions, the disbursement is expected to occur on the 28th of this month.

“The disbursement will be done on Monday. Even before farmers complete their breakfast and tea, their accounts will be credited with the benefit,” Harish assured, emphasizing the efficiency of the process. He also noted that despite attempts by the opposition, particularly the Congress party, to stall the scheme, the ultimate victors are the farmers.

Contrary to this assertion, sources familiar with the matter have indicated that farmers might have to wait until the 28th for the funds to be credited. This delay is attributed to the Election Commission's prohibition on fund disbursement on the 29th and 30th of the current month. Additionally, with banks observing a holiday on the 27th, the actual transfer is scheduled for the 28th, as per insider reports.

In the ongoing Rabi season, approximately 70 lakh farmers are set to benefit from the Rythu Bandhu scheme, receiving an amount of 5,000 per acre directly into their bank accounts. The announcement comes amid a complaint lodged with the Election Commission regarding the Rythu Bandhu disbursement, in light of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) imposition in the state.

The Rythu Bandhu scheme, aimed at providing financial assistance to farmers, has been a focal point in the state's agricultural policies. As the funds are poised to reach the accounts of thousands of farmers, the timing of the disbursement remains a subject of both anticipation and scrutiny, especially with the backdrop of political dynamics and regulatory constraints.
