In a surprising turn of events, former Congress party chief Rahul Gandhi was seen participating in agricultural activities at a farm on the rural outskirts of Haryana. Interacting with farmers, driving a tractor, and sowing paddy seeds, Gandhi's visit aimed to connect with the challenges faced by the agricultural community. However, his actions drew mixed reactions from various quarters.

On Saturday, Gandhi's cavalcade unexpectedly stopped near the fields of Madina village in Baroda constituency, Sonipat. Laborers transplanting paddy initially failed to recognize the politician. Yet, their jubilation was palpable when Gandhi and his staff approached them, joining in their work.

Sanjay Kumar, a farmer from Madina village, shared his surprise at the unexpected visit and expressed delight at serving breakfast to Gandhi while discussing their concerns. Gandhi even took the opportunity to drive a tractor, showcasing his solidarity with the farming community.

News of Gandhi's visit spread quickly, prompting Congress's Baroda MLA Induraj Narwal and Gohana MLA Jagbir Malik to join him in the fields.

However, not everyone viewed Gandhi's actions in a positive light. Haryana's Agriculture Minister, JP Dalal, took to Twitter and criticized Gandhi's engagement with farmers, suggesting that one hour of work in scorching 45-degree Celsius temperatures would have better demonstrated the challenges faced by the agricultural community. Dalal's tweet aimed to highlight what he perceived as Gandhi's lack of first-hand experience with the hardships faced by farmers.

The contrasting responses to Gandhi's visit underscored the ongoing debates and political dynamics surrounding agricultural issues in India. Some hailed his efforts as a genuine attempt to empathize with farmers, while others questioned the authenticity and practicality of his gestures.

The agricultural sector has been a focal point of political discussions and reforms in recent years, with farmers demanding improved support, fair prices for their produce, and resolution of various concerns related to agricultural policies.
