The agriculture department of Punjab recently declared that they have effectively transferred a sum of ₹3.23 crore as a subsidy for cotton seeds to the bank accounts of over 17,673 farmers. Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian confirmed that the state government has honored its commitment to provide a 33% subsidy on cotton seeds that are certified by Punjab Agricultural University (PAU).

The funds were transferred using the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system, with the first phase of disbursement completed. The remaining eligible farmers can expect to receive their subsidies shortly.

Minister Khudian emphasized the importance of taking preventive measures to combat the threat of whitefly and pink bollworm infestations. To ensure the effective implementation of preventive measures, officials have been instructed to conduct frequent field inspections and educate farmers about concrete steps to prevent these diseases.
