Punjab Government Plans To Provide Subsidy On Purchase of Agriculture Machinery
According to Punjab Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, farmers in the state can take advantage of farm machinery subsidy by applying online at the department's website by 28 February 2023 for individual assistance and to set up custom hiring centers.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led Punjab Government, will provide subsidies to state farmers for the purchase of various agricultural machinery and the establishment of custom hiring centers.
According to Punjab Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, farmers in the state can take advantage of this subsidy by applying online at the department's website agrimachinerypb.com by 28 February 2023 for individual assistance and to set up custom hiring centers.
According to the agriculture minister, this step was taken to promote agricultural machinery in the state through the Sub Mission on Agricultural Mechanization (SMAM) scheme.
According to him, under this scheme, farmers can get subsidies on machines both individually and through custom hiring centers, panchayats, cooperatives, rural entrepreneurs, farmer producer organizations (FPOs), registered farmer groups, and so on.
Mr. Dhaliwal stated that for small-scale farmers, a Laser Land Leveler, Air Assisted Sprayer, Pneumatic Planter, Power Weeder (Engine/PTO Operated), Raised Bed Planter, Subsoiler, Single Row Forage Harvester, Potato Digger, DSR Drill, Tractor Operated Sprayer (Boom Sprayer), Power Harrow, Tractor Operated Plate Ploughing, and Tractor Operated Fertilizer Broadcaster are all available.
The Cabinet Minister stated that different categories of Custom Hiring Centers falling in the cost brackets of Rs. 10 lakhs, 25 lakhs, 40 lakhs, and 60 lakhs, among others, would be able to obtain a subsidy for the purchase of machines. He said that the general category's subsidy rates are 40%, the speciality component's are 50%, and the custom hiring centres' are 40%.
Mr. Dhaliwal invited the state's farmers and various farmer-related groups to take advantage of subsidies on machine purchases and adopt mechanisation in agriculture, claiming that mechanisation would increase farmers' income. Farmers can also meet with their District Chief Agriculture Officer for more information, according to him.
