Punjab Agricultural University to Honor 'Innovative Farmers' at Kisan Mela 2024, Invites Applications
The awards aim to encourage sustainable and innovative practices in agriculture, acknowledging the pivotal role played by farmers in advancing the agricultural landscape of Punjab.

The Directorate of Extension Education at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) has announced the initiation of the "Innovative Farmer Awards 2024," inviting applications from the farmers of Punjab who have demonstrated excellence in agriculture, horticulture, and allied occupations.
The award ceremony is scheduled to take place during the upcoming PAU Kisan Mela in March 2024, where progressive farmers from across the state will be recognized for their outstanding contributions to the agricultural sector.
Director of Extension Education, GS Buttar, shared the details of the awards, emphasizing the significant recognition and rewards awaiting the winners. The prestigious Chief Minister Award in Agriculture, accompanied by a cash prize of ₹25,000, a plaque, and a citation, will be presented to the self-cultivating farmer excelling in field crops within Punjab.

Similarly, the Chief Minister Award in Horticulture, with an equivalent cash prize of ₹25,000, a plaque, and a citation, will be bestowed upon the self-cultivating farmer who has exhibited excellence in horticultural crops.
In addition to these top honors, the ceremony will feature the Three CRI Pumps Awards, each carrying a cash prize of ₹10,000, along with a plaque and citation. These awards will be granted to self-cultivating farmers who have embraced improved water management technologies, farm mechanization, and organic farming practices.

Furthermore, the Sardarni Parkash Kaur Sra Memorial Award, with a cash prize of ₹5,000, a plaque, and a citation, will be dedicated to recognizing the achievements of a self-cultivating progressive farmer or farm woman in agriculture, horticulture, floriculture, or any allied agricultural enterprise.
