Minister of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Chander Kumar oversaw a farmers' awareness camp and Kisan mela today at Nagrota Surian in Kangra district's Jawali Assembly constituency.

He urged agricultural scientists to persuade farmers to practice organic and traditional farming. He urged them to address the concerns of local farmers so that they may gain from agricultural technology.

In order to improve the financial situation of farmers, Kumar stated that the state's agriculture and animal husbandry sectors' organizational structure was being changed.

" As given the responsibility of the Agriculture domain, it is my goal to increase traditional and organic farming while reducing the complete dependency on the usage of chemical fertilizers. The state government will offer loans with a 2% interest rate to support new businesses in the agricultural, horticultural, animal husbandry, and fisheries industries," he continued.

He declared that the state government would launch the "Him Unnati Yojana" in order to advance the agriculture industry as a whole. In accordance with the capacity of each area, clusters of milk, legumes, vegetables, fruits, flowers, and cash crops would be formed.

According to the Minister, the departments of Agriculture, Horticulture, Jal Shakti, Animal Husbandry, and Rural Development have been instructed to base these projects on clusters. He said that the government had intended to connect women's self-help organizations with rural chances for self-employment.

According to him, "The government would purchase cow milk from farmers at a cost of Rs. 80 and buffalo milk at a cost of Rs. 100 per kg, from which various products will be made and offered for sale in the market."

Speaking about the state government's strategy to turn Kangra into a major tourist destination, Kumar claimed that an ADB grant of Rs 1,311 crore will help begin a new tourism development program.

The local progressive farmers who chose natural farming and diversified their agricultural crops were acknowledged by the minister.

The department's deputy director for agriculture, Rahul Katoch, gave him an overview of its initiatives and programs for farmers. Farmers were informed on the use of fertilizers and the most recent data regarding agricultural and animal husbandry by scientists from the Krishi Vigyan Kendras, agriculture officers, veterinarians, and officials from IFFCO Limited.
