In a video message, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi extended his heartfelt congratulations to the nation on the occasion of the 9th International Yoga Day. Emphasizing the global impact of yoga, he referred to it as a mass movement that unites people from different nations, embodying the spirit of "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam" - "One Earth, One Family, One Future," which also serves as the guiding theme of India's G20 presidency.

Leading a grand yoga demonstration at AIIMS, New Delhi, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, marked the International Yoga Day celebration. Addressing the event, Dr. Mandaviya acknowledged yoga's ancient roots in India and credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for revitalizing its practice worldwide. He stated that yoga has now become India's soft power, permeating every corner of the world.

Dr. Mandaviya emphasized the numerous benefits of practicing yoga in daily life, highlighting its ability to calm the mind and energize the body. He stressed that yoga plays a vital role in health and wellness, serving as a form of preventive care that enhances the body's immunity.

The Union Health Minister further noted that the COVID-19 pandemic has led to increased awareness of health and wellness among individuals. As people prioritize their well-being, yoga has emerged as a preferred choice for maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Before the yoga event, Dr. Mandaviya lent his support to the AIIMS Go Green Initiative by participating in a cycling ride. This gesture further exemplified his commitment to promoting sustainable practices and overall well-being.

Expressing his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his efforts in globalizing yoga, Dr. Mandaviya urged everyone to not only practice yoga themselves but also encourage others to adopt it as part of their daily routine.

The event was attended by esteemed dignitaries, including Shri Sudhansh Pant, Union Health Secretary; Shri Rajiv Manjhi, Joint Secretary, Health Ministry; Prof. M Srinivas, Director, AIIMS, New Delhi, and senior officials from the Health Ministry.

International Yoga Day continues to be celebrated with great enthusiasm worldwide, underscoring the profound impact of this ancient Indian tradition on global well-being and unity.
