Praj Industries Achieves India's Aviation Fuel Goals Using Local Feedstock
Praj Industries, an Indian company, has successfully demonstrated the use of local feedstock in the aviation industry. CEO Shishir Joshipura expressed confidence in achieving their goal of incorporating 1% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) into all aircraft by mid-2025.
Praj Industries' CEO and MD, Shishir Joshipura, described Friday as a historic day, as the company successfully showcased its ability to utilize India's feedstock in the aviation industry.
During an interaction with ANI, the CEO, and MD expressed that they had collaborated with various government technology firms, including their American partners, for nearly 18 months. Joshipura displayed optimism, stating that the company was poised to meet its goal of incorporating 1 percent sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) into all aircraft by mid-2025.
When asked about the company's confidence in achieving the target of 1% SAF blending by mid-2025, Joshipura expressed optimism. He stated that the company had successfully demonstrated 1% blending on Friday and emphasized that they have the necessary technology to accomplish the goal. Joshipura also mentioned the company's strong partnerships with its collaborators.
Minister Hardeep Puri also expressed his support for this cause, highlighting the crucial role of converting crops grown in India into fuel along the supply chain.
In regard to addressing various concerns, the CEO and MD emphasized their commitment to promoting agricultural development and supporting farmers, alongside showcasing technological advancements. Simultaneously, they emphasized the importance of ensuring energy security. Furthermore, the company also made significant efforts to tackle the issue of urban unemployment.

Joshipura mentioned that this particular measure effectively demonstrates the company's capabilities, especially when considering its significant impact. He stated that when combined with greenhouse gas reduction efforts, the company is well-prepared to fulfill all requirements and meet expectations.
Regarding the cost-effectiveness of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), he mentioned that once the commercial-scale plant is established, it will become economically viable. Additionally, he highlighted their efforts in both India and the United States, where they are actively participating in an ambitious sustainable aviation fuel program.
According to Joshipura, the company is currently involved in two significant projects to construct these facilities in the United States, using American resources. He mentioned that the knowledge gained from these endeavors can be applied in our own country without delay. Joshipura expressed pride in India's ability to produce fuel and stated that this venture would create vast business opportunities for the company.
Regarding the revenue target, he mentioned, "It's premature for me to provide a specific revenue target because initially, you might mention one percent for all flights, but that figure may change later on."
In addition to focusing on revenue, he emphasized the importance of establishing a global leadership position for the company. The CEO and MD mentioned that they were also in talks with several other countries. Therefore, they expressed confidence that Praj would emerge as one of the prominent global leaders in this industry as time progresses.
