Reports suggest that the Central Government is considering an increase in the yearly sum disbursed to farmers through the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi initiative. At present, farmers receive Rs 6,000 in three phases under this program.

Responding to long-standing appeals for a hike, the government is contemplating a 50 percent increment, elevating the support from Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000.

Presently, farmers receive Rs 2,000 thrice a year under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi program. A government official reveals that a proposal to enhance the benefit has been presented to the Prime Minister's Office. If accepted, this decision could add an annual financial load of Rs 20,000-30,000 crore.

Observers speculate that a resolution might come before the forthcoming assembly elections in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Telangana later this year.

Farmers across the nation have voiced concerns that only a fraction benefit from the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops. Addressing this, the government plans to procure more grains at MSP, aiming to bolster farmers' income.

Economic experts propose that the administration could alleviate public distress over surging inflation and fuel prices by reducing costs for fuel and essential commodities.

As the cost of living has surged with LPG cylinder prices nearly doubling in three years and petrol and diesel exceeding Rs 100 per liter, the government might take steps to mitigate these effects on household budgets and overall inflation.
