LakhPati Didis & Vishwakarma Yojana: PM Modi Empowers OBCs, Middle Class and Women in Independence Day Speech
Two initiatives- "LakhPati Didi" to ensure yearly earnings of Rs 1 lakh, and "Vishwakarma Yojana," with funds ranging from Rs 13,000 crore to Rs 15,000 crore, on the occasion of Independence Day.
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced two novel undertakings, to connect with economically underprivileged and socially disadvantaged communities before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
The first project, known as the Vishwakarma Yojana, consists of a novel scheme with a budget ranging from Rs 13,000 crore to Rs 15,000 crore. The second initiative, named Lakhpati Didi, aims to offer skill training to two crore women, enabling them to generate a minimum annual income of Rs 1 lakh.
Speaking on the 77th Independence Day from the Red Fort, the prime minister addressed the nation, highlighting his efforts to advance women-led progress on a global scale. He noted that this approach gained substantial backing within the G-20 community.
He expressed that their primary objective revolves around strengthening self-help groups for women, aiming to cultivate an impressive count of two crore prosperous women, primarily known as Lakhpati Didis. Through tapping into the capabilities of the female workforce and advocating for their progress, the concept of fostering women-driven advancement, which he ardently advocated on the G-20 platform, is now garnering extensive acknowledgment and substantial support.
Modi placed a strong emphasis on the fact that roughly 100 million women have taken active roles within Women Self Help Groups. Exploring a village exposes the extent of women's involvement across a range of fields including banking, Anganwadi services, and contributions to healthcare. Additionally, he expressed his determination to turn his vision into reality, aspiring to empower two crores Lakhpati Didis – women who attain an annual income of Rs 1 lakh or even more.

Modi went on to explain that their strategy for achieving two crores of Lakhpati Didis involves embracing an inventive method that uses the potential of science and technology. He elaborated on their plan to equip women with drone pilot training, to incorporate technological advancements into the realm of agriculture.
PM Modi said that Drone operation and repair training will be provided, supported by the Government of India supplying drones to numerous Women Self Help Groups. This initiative aims to introduce drone services into our agricultural activities. To begin with, around 15 thousand Women Self Help Groups will embark on drone flights.
Simultaneously, the prime minister unveiled a fresh initiative named Vishwakarma Yojana, allocating funds ranging from Rs 13,000 crore to Rs 15,000 crore. This scheme targets individuals possessing traditional skills, offering them a platform to flourish.

Bhardwaj remarked, "The esteemed Prime Minister's pronouncement of furnishing drones to 15,000 Women Self Help Groups, along with instruction in piloting and maintenance, carries the potential to revolutionize the agricultural landscape of India. This endeavor will significantly empower women, a pivotal catalyst for our nation's advancement. Envisaged is the hastening of the amalgamation of drone technology into the agricultural domain, which is expected to subsequently stimulate noteworthy employment possibilities and the expansion of agribusiness avenues in rural sectors."
