Parivartan Shetkari Group Receives Paani Foundation Award
Parivartan Shetkari Gat of Amravati district won the "Satyamev Jayate Farmer Cup" on Sunday.
Parivartan Shetkari Gat of Amravati district won the "Satyamev Jayate Farmer Cup" on Sunday, hosted by actor Aamir Khan's Paani Foundation. The group from Varod taluka's village Vathoda received Rs 25 lakhs for implementing best agricultural practices.
The Chitra Nakshetra Mahila Shetkari Gat of Aurangabad's Golegaon village in the Khultabad taluka won second prize and received Rs 15 lakhs.
Jai Yogesshwar Shetkari Gat of the village Of Budruk in the Amalner Taluka of Jalgaon and Unnati Shetkari Gat of the village Nandapur in the Kalamnuri Taluka of the Hingoli district shared the third prize. Each of them gets Rs. 5 lahks. 42 taluka-level winners also received prizes of Rs 1 lakh apiece. The recognitions focused on agricultural methods, residue-free farming, reducing cultivation costs, and increasing production.
At the award ceremony conducted at the Shiv Chhatrapati Shivaji Sports Complex in Balewadi, chief guest Devendra Fadnavis remarked, "The effort done by Paani Foundation led by Aamir Khan is remarkable. The solidarity shown by the farmers and the community's commitment to the cause truly astounded me. I would beg Paani Foundation to increase farmer participation even further because doing so will result in the farming community's overall improvement.”
Fadnavis emphasized the importance of collective farming in combating inflation, climate change, and market uncertainty. He also urged farmers' organizations to look beyond subsidies and focus on developing self-sustaining and profitable farmer-producer businesses. "I thank Fadnavis for the encouragement, and we will do our best to go the extra mile," Khan said. I also want to thank all of the competitors for their enthusiasm and dedication to the competition."

The first prize was accepted on behalf of the Parivartan Shetkari Gat by several members, including deputy sarpanch and group president Chandrashekhar Patankar, vice president Suresh Bhusari, secretary Sanjay Chobitkar, members Amit Thakare and Baban Khade, and Talyka co-ordinator Jaikumar Sonule.
Aside from the Padma recipient Popatrao Pawar, other attendees were Shantilal Muttha of the Bhartiya Jain Sangathana, Agriculture Secretary Eknath Dawale, filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker, and actors Atul Kulkarni and Sunil Chavan.
