A 3-day conclave for Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) will take place at PAU in Ludhiana from May 10 to 12.
Punjab Agriculture University is actively seeking to promote technological innovation in agriculture, to make it a profitable venture. To achieve this, they are reaching out to Non-Resident Indian farmers who have achieved significant success in agriculture while residing in various countries.
The university recognizes the potential for these individuals to contribute their knowledge and expertise to the agricultural industry in Punjab and hopes to establish a collaborative relationship with them.
A 3-day conclave for Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) will take place at PAU in Ludhiana from May 10 to 12. During this event, NRIs will have the opportunity to share their success stories and provide guidance to farmers in Punjab on how they can attain similar levels of success.
Additionally, successful NRI farmers will engage with students who are pursuing agriculture-based courses. This interaction will enable students to realize that agriculture can be a viable vocation, even if they decide to settle abroad.
NRIs will have the opportunity to interface with the policymakers responsible for agricultural policy in Punjab and provide them with an explanation of the farming schemes and policies implemented in their respective countries.
In 1962, the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) was established to follow the Land Grant System of the United States. PAU comprises four integral colleges, which are the College of Agriculture, the College of Agricultural Engineering & Technology, the College of Home Science, and the College of Basic Sciences & Humanities.
The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) holds a significant place in the Indian agriculture industry, as it played a crucial role in introducing the Green Revolution in India. Additionally, the university is renowned for maintaining high academic standards. There is a robust relationship between the research-extension worker-farmer communities and the state development departments, which is fostered by PAU. The concept of the Farmers Service Centre, developed by PAU, has been adopted by the ICAR as the Agriculture Technology Information Centre. This initiative facilitates a strong connection between farmers and technology to improve their agricultural practices.
