CNH Industrial has unveiled the New Holland T4 Electric Power, an all-electric light utility tractor with self-driving capabilities.
This prototype tractor was created in collaboration with Monarch Tractor, a CNH Industrial strategic partner. While this prototype is branded for New Holland, it will also be available under the Case IH brand.
"The T4 Electric Power is the ideal solution for lower horsepower operations," says Marc Kermisch, CNH Industrial's chief digital and information officer. "It works well for mixed farms, livestock operations, municipal projects, orchards, and specialized uses. We know our customers are eager to adopt this type of product, so continuing our ag electrification journey with this platform makes perfect sense."
The T4 Electric Power joins New Holland's line-up of alternative power tractors, which includes the T6 Methane Power tractor, and the T7 Methane Power LNG tractor.
Performance
The T4 Electric Power tractor has four-wheel drive and a top speed of nearly 25 mph. T4's electric motor can hit up to 120 hp., with a max torque of up to 440 Nm. Traditional mechanical, hydraulic, and Power Take Off implements are also compatible with the tractor.
Depending on usage, the tractor can run for up to a full day and can be charged to 100% with commercially available fast charging systems. Hand tools like welders and drills can be powered by the tractor's electrical outlets, which also serve as a backup power source when necessary.
When compared to diesel tractors of comparable size, the T4 tractor, according to CNH Industrial, has smoother gear changes and shuttling and can cut operating costs by up to 90%. On the T4, there is less vibration and noise during operation.
Automatic Functions
The autonomous and automated functions of the T4 Electric Power make use of a variety of sensors, cameras, and control systems. As a result, farmers can remotely start the tractor using a smartphone app.
A shadow feature that syncs machines together, a 360-degree perception system to avoid obstacles, and telematics and auto-guidance to keep all functions in check are among the features.
Autonomous functions also allow for fleet management, allowing the farm manager to assign tasks to individual pieces of equipment.
- Farmers can now control the power of their tractors remotely.
- A virtual reality system with a 360-degree camera that aids in obstacle avoidance.
- A synchronized platform that allows the driver to track the performance of the tractor over time.
