New Holland's LNG Tractor Takes Home Green Good Design Award

The T7 Methane Power LNG prototype tractor from New Holland Agriculture, a worldwide brand owned by CNH Industrial, has received the 2023 Green Good Design Award.

The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies had organized an awards ceremony that specifically focused on sustainable design. The ‘GOOD DESIGN’ awards highlighted remarkable contributions towards fully sustainable design, including innovative products, buildings, as well as construction and planning projects from across the globe.

The recently developed T7 prototype reinforces our dominant position in the pursuit of feasible alternative fuels. With its latest liquefied natural gas (LNG) system, this innovative tractor can store four times more fuel compared to its predecessor, the T6 model, which was the first compressed natural gas tractor to be commercially introduced globally. This increased fuel storage capacity more than doubles the autonomy of the vehicle, thereby delivering greater value to our esteemed customers.

We have formed a partnership with Bennamann, an expert based in the UK, who has developed a patented method to convert fugitive methane into clean biofuel. This technology supports the creation of a sustainable and energy-independent farm system. By incorporating the T7 prototype into this process, the overall carbon footprint of the operation can be reduced to a level that is better than zero.

The prototype boasts a harmonious blend of style, function, and sustainability, evident in its redesigned exterior with a modern hood and advanced lighting system. The operator's experience inside the cabin is greatly improved, featuring a full-length skydome roof that provides better visibility, the innovative SideWinder™ Ultra armrest for enhanced comfort, a larger 12-inch IntelliView™ touchscreen, and ergonomically shaped seats.
