Union Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on Sunday announced the addition of 60 seats to the Chaudhary Charan Singh National Institute of Agricultural Marketing (CCS-NIAM), Jaipur, as well as the elimination of the requirement for students to stay in the hostel.

On Sunday, the agriculture minister spoke at the fourth convocation ceremony of the Post Graduate Diploma in Agri-Business Management and the NIAM Agri Innovation and Incubation Centre.

The minister stated at the event in Jaipur, "Students and youth engaged with agriculture should also participate to bring more advantages to the agriculture sector in the country and to make the communities more prosperous."

Speaking at the fourth CCS-NIAM convocation in Jaipur, Tomar promised that the government would also eliminate the requirement that students reside in hostels. Currently there are roughly 60 students enrolled in the PG Diploma in AgriBusiness Management programme.

"Many challenges, such as shifting to more profitable crops, crop diversification, and eliminating middlemen in the sale of produce, are being addressed strategically", he said.

He added that, "there are numerous issues in the farm industry, which the central government is successfully addressing, and that the youth should be drawn to it because the agriculture sector is an essential part."
