On Friday, Minister of State for Agriculture Kailash Choudhary emphasized the crucial role of technology in the agriculture sector to enable India to achieve its goal of becoming a USD 5 trillion economy. According to him, the implementation of advanced technologies is vital to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ambitious target of a USD 5 trillion economy in the near future.

He highlighted the need to adopt new technologies such as drones, artificial intelligence, precision farming, and blockchain in farming. The minister made these comments during an event organized by the agro-chemical company Dhanuka Group.

Deepak Pental, former Vice Chancellor of the University of Delhi, has made a compelling case for the adoption of genetically modified (GM) crops. He highlighted that the United States had experienced a 35 percent increase in agricultural production since introducing GM crops, while Europe had only managed a 6-7 percent increase.

Pental advocated for the utilization of agro-chemicals and emphasized that the use of high-quality agro-chemicals is crucial to minimize crop damage.

According to R G Agarwal, the Chairman of the Dhanuka Group, the Indian government's progressive policies aimed at embracing new technologies and granting prompt approvals for the agriculture sector, such as the recent clearance for drone guidelines, are creating a path towards making India a food hub for the global community by the year 2047.
