Ministry of Agriculture Launches Unified Portal for Agricultural Statistics, Aims to Revolutionize Agricultural Data Management
The UPAg initiative is set to revolutionize the agricultural sector, offering crucial real-time, reliable, and standardized data on commodities. The portal aims to empower policymakers, researchers, and stakeholders with data-driven insights.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare recently launched the Unified Portal for Agricultural Statistics (UPAg), an innovative digital platform aimed at revolutionizing agricultural data management.
The platform was officially launched by Ramesh Chand, a prominent member of NITI Aayog, who hailed it as a significant investment and a giant leap forward in the of agricultural data.
At the unveiling ceremony, Agriculture Secretary Manoj Ahuja emphasized the UPAg Portal's significance as a public asset, aimed at diminishing search expenses and simplifying the acquisition of reliable, detailed, and impartial agricultural information.
Additionally, he shed light on concurrent efforts within the ministry, including the Krishi Decision Support System, farmer registration, and crop surveys, all directed at improving data precision and digital data administration in the agricultural sector.

Arun Kumar, the Senior Economic and Statistical Adviser, provided insights into the major initiatives aimed at improving data accuracy and governance within the ministry.
Ruchika Gupta, Adviser at DA&FW, shared key features of the UPAg Portal, emphasizing its capability to generate crop estimates and seamlessly integrate with other systems that generate vital agricultural statistics, including price, trade, procurement, and stock data.

The UPAg platform tackles numerous critical issues confronting the agricultural sector, especially the lack of standardized, authenticated, and centralized data. Its strategic purpose is to furnish immediate, uniform, and authenticated information on agricultural commodities, empowering policymakers, researchers, and stakeholders to make decisions grounded in data.
This initiative is in complete harmony with the core principles of e-governance, marking an era characterized by intelligence and adaptability in India's agricultural sphere.
