A recent Millet Conference 2023 was held by The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM)  in association with the Indian Institute Of Millet Research (IIMR), NAARM, ICRISAT, and the National Institute of Nutrition. With the title “The Future Superfood for The World"  Telangana Agriculture Minister Singireddy Niranjan Reddy stated that as there is an increase in the food demand, with the expansion of urbanization and growth in population there is a need to resolve these ongoing issues.

Telangana is therefore completely focusing to tackle these difficulties. They are on a mission to provide food and erase the hunger that the world currently faces. Telangana aims to help the farmers, agriculture, and allied sectors. Crop diversification, procurement of crops, and crop planning should be the responsibility of central state governments.

Reddy said that “Telangana is the only state to spend Rs 4.2 Lac Crore towards agriculture and allied sector".

In his statement, he also said that Telangana pertains to good climatic conditions which will help to easily cultivate millets. Scientists, governments, and industries seek new ways to work in coordination for the widespread of millet.

Reddy also told that with the passage of time, the pattern of human food consumption is changing and an alteration is required to bring new changes for processed food snacks. Moreover, these food items are to be made with healthy materials like millet, groundnuts, and many more.

ASSOCHAM Telangana Development Council Chairman and CMD, AXIS Energy Group, Ravi Kumar Reddy  Kataru addressed that as India is the largest producer of millet with 20 % global share in production according to 2022 reports, therefore India has full capacity and capability to fulfill food demands.

In the recent conference organized in Hyderabad, Jayesh Ranjan, Information Technology, Principal Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Amit Jhingran, Cheif General Manager State Bank Of India( SBI ) Telangana, and Dr. Dayakar Rao  CEO, Nutrihub and Principal Scientist, ICAR also addressed.

More than 200 people did participate in this conference from different sectors like banking, FPOs, industry, academia, farming communities, and many more.

Dr. Rangaiah V Setlem, CEO, of Indigene Protein Foods Pvt Ltd, and Womenova Agro Food Park Private Limited ended this conference by delivering his concluding words.
