Hailing from Nantial, Rajeev Bhaskar, a successful agripreneur, could not have predicted that his previous employment as a member of the VNR Seeds sales and marketing team would pave the path for him to become a farmer and entrepreneur.

His time with the seed company provided him with opportunity to interact with farmers from all around India, which sparked his interest in agriculture. Rajeev learned about Thai guava farming from meetings with farmers who grew the type.

To boost crop development, Rajeev used biocides and biofertilizers generated from organic resources. He also used a three-layer bagging process to protect the produce from the damaging effects of worms and insects. This method has proven to be extremely effective in agriculture.

Rajeev resigned from his job in 2017 to cultivate Thai guavas on a five-acre of land that he had rented in Panchkula, Haryana. In October and November of 2017, Rajeev harvested and sold his first crop off guavas, earning a total of Rs 20 lakh. Despite experiencing some delays in selling his subsequent vegetable crops, he decided to persist with his guava farming. In 2019, Rajeev entered into a lease agreement with three investors for approximately 55 acres of land in Rupnagar, Punjab, specifically to cultivate guava crops.

In 2019, Rajeev and his team undertook the task of planting guava trees on a 25-acre land in Punjab. Concurrently, they continued cultivating Thai guavas on five acres of land in Panchkula’s Garden. This dual endeavour proved to be lucrative for them as they were able to yield a significant profit from the cultivation of crops during the rainy season and winter.

Rajeev strongly believes in the significance of organic farming techniques in areas where chemical farming is not commonly adopted. However, he has decided to stick with his current farming method. It is worth noting that after quitting his job Rajeev invested a considerable amount of money in agriculture and have been serving as an inspiration to many individuals.
