May 2023 FADA Tractor Sales Report: Promising Growth of 9.63% with 70,739 Tractors Sold
The report indicates that May 2023 was a favorable month for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) as the industry witnessed notable growth in tractor sales across popular brands.
The Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) has released its latest retail tractor sales report, indicating a significant growth of 9.63% in the Indian tractor market. The data, based on sales figures for May 2023, highlights a positive trend in the sector, with 70,739 units sold compared to 64,528 units in May 2022. The report indicates that May 2023 was a favorable month for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) as the industry witnessed notable growth in tractor sales across popular brands.

- Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., a leading player in the tractor market, experienced a substantial surge in sales. The company sold 15,833 units in May 2023, a growth of 32.33% compared to 11,965 units sold in May 2022.
- Swaraj Tractor, known for its reliable agricultural machinery, witnessed impressive growth in sales. The brand recorded 12,765 units sold in May 2023, reflecting a remarkable increase of 45.16% compared to 8,794 units sold in May 2022.
- Tafe Ltd., a prominent tractor manufacturer, achieved a growth rate of 18.36%. The company sold 8,921 units in May 2023, compared to 7,537 units in the same period last year.
- International Tractors Limited, another major player in the Indian tractor market, reported a growth rate of 25.13%. The company sold 8,839 units in May 2023, up from 7,064 units in May 2022.
- Escorts Limited (Agri Machinery Group) experienced a notable increase in sales, with 7,664 units sold in May 2023, representing a growth rate of 31.57% compared to 5,825 units sold in May 2022.
- John Deere India Pvt Ltd (Tractor division) witnessed a growth rate of 32.55%, selling 5,159 units in May 2023, up from 3,892 units in May 2022.

Among other prominent brands, Eicher Tractors registered a growth rate of 9.49%, CNH Industrial (INDIA) Pvt Ltd witnessed an impressive growth of 24.66%, and Kubota International Pvt Ltd showed growth of 15.79% in their respective sales figures for May 2023.
However, not all brands experienced growth during this period. Some brands recorded a decline in sales, including Force Motors Ltd (a Firodia Enterprise) with a degrowth of 4.93%, V.S.T. Tillers Tractors Ltd with a decline of 22.80%, Preet Tractors Pvt Ltd with a decline of 34.67%, and Indo Farm Tractors with a degrowth of 31.28%.
Additionally, other tractor brands collectively reported a decline of 85.40% in sales, with 1,491 units sold in May 2023 compared to 10,214 units in May 2022.
The positive growth in tractor sales reflects the resilience and increasing demand within the agricultural sector, indicating a positive outlook for the Indian farming community. The surge in sales not only signifies the robust performance of OEMs but also suggests the industry's contribution to the country's overall economic growth.
