Marut Drones Secures World's First Patent for Multi-Nozzle Aerial Seed Dispensing Technology
The versatility of this seeding drone goes beyond seed dispersal, as it can also be utilized for spraying pesticides and fertilizers.
Marut Drones, a prominent player in the field of drone technology, has achieved a significant milestone by securing the world's first patent for its innovative method and system of dispensing multi-varied seeds through a groundbreaking multi-nozzle aerial seed dispensing device. The patented technology, incorporated in Marut's direct seeding drone - AG365, features a sophisticated aerial seed dispensing device equipped with five nozzles.
Developed in collaboration with Prof Jayashankar Telangana State Agriculture University, this cutting-edge drone has garnered recognition for its revolutionary approach to seed dispersal. The Indian Patent Office has granted this patent for 20 years, commencing from November 29, 2021, under the provisions of the Patents Act, 1970.
Marut Drones highlighted that the patent underscores the efficacy of its seeding drone, which underwent rigorous scientific validation by PJTSAU. Additionally, PJTSAU has released Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the deployment of these drones in agricultural practices.

The Hyderabad-based startup is poised to advocate for the widespread adoption of its direct seeding drones, initially focusing on rice cultivation and subsequently expanding to other crops. The patented system facilitates the aerial dispersion of diverse rice seeds, optimizing the efficiency and precision of seed-sowing processes.
Prem Kumar Vislawath, Founder and CEO of Marut Drones, expressed optimism about the transformative impact of the patented technology on rice farming practices. He highlighted the myriad benefits offered by the seeding drone, including the elimination of traditional challenges such as nursery time, transplantation, and skilled labour shortages.
Vislawath pointed out that the adoption of Marut's seeding drones enables paddy farmers to achieve remarkable reductions in water usage, up to 92%. Moreover, it accelerates the return on investment and profitability timelines, significantly shortening them from three years to just one-and-a-half years.
