Three days long International Conference on the theme 'Natural farming for Revitalizing Environment and Resilient Agriculture' was kicked off at Central Agricultural University of Manipur on Friday.
The conference will feature eight technical sessions and delegates from Bangladesh, Nepal, Singapore, Thailand, Germany, England, and the United States.
The conference was inaugurated by Manipur Governor Sushri Anusuiya Uikey, who also displayed the natural farming products of innovative farmers from Manipur and other North Eastern states.
The Governor of Manipur stated at the inaugural function that people prefer organic foods that are free of chemical fertilisers and pesticides. As a result, large-scale adoption of natural farming processes will be the best option for meeting people's needs. In light of such circumstances, NITI Aayog organised a national consultation to discuss the Indian natural farming system.

Anusuiya stated that the Centre has initiated schemes such as the National Agriculture Development Scheme and the Indian Natural Farming System to promote natural farming, and that a total of Rs 4980.99 lakh has been released for the schemes' implementation. She added that the government has set a goal of assisting one crore farmers in adopting natural farming over the next three years.
