Mahindra Empowers Skilled Workforce, 10 Employees Embark on Transformative Journey to Japan

The ten selected workmen, hailing from Mahindra's tractor manufacturing facilities, are on a transformative journey of skill enhancement and cultural immersion as they head to Nagoya, Japan, where they will receive mandatory training for a period of 4 to 6 weeks, generously supported by the Government of Japan.

In a heartwarming display of international cooperation and skill development, Mahindra's Farm Equipment Sector (FES) bid farewell to a group of ten skilled workmen who will step aboard on a transformative journey to Japan.

Hemant Sikka, the President of the Farm Equipment Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., along with other company officials, were present to offer their best wishes and support to the departing workmen.

This significant journey represents the Mahindra Farm Division, a part of Mahindra's Farm Equipment Sector, participating in Japan's Technical Intern Training Program (TITP). The primary aim of TITP, initiated in 1993, is to facilitate skills transfer and international cooperation by providing on-the-job training to individuals from developing countries. This program is pivotal in promoting human resource development and boosting economic growth in the regions it serves.

The ten selected workmen, hailing from Mahindra's tractor manufacturing facilities in Zaheerabad, Nagpur, and Rudrapur, are on a transformative journey of skill enhancement and cultural immersion as they head to Nagoya, Japan, where they will receive mandatory training for a period of 4 to 6 weeks, generously supported by the Government of Japan.

After this initial phase, the workmen will embark on a 1-year on-the-job training program with Mitsubishi Mahindra Agricultural Machinery in Shimane, Japan. This valuable experience promises to be a game-changer, equipping them with the skills and expertise needed to contribute to their respective fields back in India.

In the spirit of ensuring a seamless transition, the workmen received a comprehensive orientation, both in person and online, aimed at sensitizing them to Japanese culture and work practices. This meticulous preparation highlights Mahindra's dedication to equipping its employees with not only technical proficiency but also a profound understanding of cultural nuances, thus cultivating a holistic skill set.

Hemant Sikka, expressed his pride in fostering an inclusive workplace that empowers its people to rise and reach their fullest potential. He emphasized that Japan's TITP program is vital for realizing this vision. He extended heartfelt appreciation to the Governments of India and Japan, as well as their program partners, for their significant support of individuals through this life-changing training program.

This initiative is made possible through the cooperation of India's Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and key Japanese ministries, including the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. Their Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC), signed in October 2017, has brought in a new era of collaboration in the skill development sector between the two nations.

Under this visionary program, select candidates from India embark on three to five years of internship in Japan, followed by their return to India to apply the acquired skills for the betterment of both countries. The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) oversees the program, ensuring its smooth execution and facilitating the dreams and aspirations of these skilled workmen.
