Maharashtra Agriculture Minister, Abdul Sattar, stated that farmers in the state would not face a shortage of seeds or fertilizers, and they would receive appropriate compensation for crop losses caused by unseasonal rains once assessment reports are completed.

Sattar spoke to reporters after presiding over a review meeting for Kharif season preparations in the Nagpur division.

He stated that seeds and fertilizers had been distributed according to district-wise requirements and that compensation would be paid out as soon as loss assessment surveys are completed.

Between last June and now, excessive and unseasonal rainfall had affected a total of 46 lakh hectares of land, and 57 lakh farmers had been affected. The state government would provide double the relief set by the National Disaster Relief Fund criteria, he added.

He also mentioned that the farmers in the state would receive Rs 12,000 annually, with the state government paying an additional Rs 6,000 on top of the Rs 6,000 provided by the Union government under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana.
