M&M Launches Five-Year Policy to Support Women Employees in Motherhood Journey
Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) has introduced a new policy that offers five-year-long support to women employees in their motherhood journey. This policy is the best among manufacturing companies, which offer an average of 2.4 months of support.
Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) introduces a new policy to support women employees in their motherhood journey. The policy covers key life stages of motherhood - pre-childbirth (1 year), maternity (1 year), and post-maternity (3 years).
The policy includes several unique features, such as six months of flexible work and a 24-month hybrid work option from the base location for women employees after childbirth. The policy also allows women employees to travel with their child (up to 2 years of age) along with a caregiver for critical work-related overnight domestic travel.

Ruzbeh Irani, President of Mahindra Group's HR division, emphasized their commitment to retain and bring gender diversity and ensure women experience complete job security and work-life balance. He added that their decision to implement a five-year approach stems from insights gained by actively listening to women employees at all levels, embracing a more comprehensive perspective.

Tata Sons, one of India's largest conglomerates, has been a pioneer in offering supportive policies for women employees. In addition to 18 months of half-pay, half-day post-maternity support, Tata Sons offers women employees the flexibility to choose their working hours. Employees who have completed five years of service are also eligible for a year's leave for various caregiving responsibilities.
