The agricultural division of the state has recently acquired a unique fish-drying contraption that operates on a combination of solar power and electricity. This special apparatus is capable of accommodating a substantial 100kg of fish and employs both sunlight and electrical energy to efficiently dry the fish. The ongoing process of establishing this cutting-edge drying mechanism is presently taking place at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) farm situated in Margao.

This significant leap forward forms an integral part of a more extensive project known as the 'Establishment of a Training and exhibition center for fish cultivation and Aquaculture.' The necessary funding for this initiative is being furnished through the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY). The Minister for Agriculture, Ravi Naik, conveyed this vital information through a written declaration presented during a legislative assembly session. This serves as a testament to the government's unwavering dedication to augmenting fish cultivation methodologies and propelling sustainable agricultural practices within the vicinity.

After conducting on-farm testing of the solar electric hybrid fish dryer, the machine's performance will be assessed for its effectiveness with various types of fish and prawns, as stated in the provided response.

A solar dryer engineer from the company that supplied the equipment visited the location, and according to Cabral's written response, the farm at Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Margao was determined to be a suitable site for installing the unit. Once the installation process is finished, a preliminary demonstration of the solar dryer's capabilities will be carried out.

The acquisition of the solar electric hybrid fish dryer, valued at Rs 7.84 lakh, was achieved through an e-tendering process. This online tendering process was initiated on September 22, 2022. The reply mentioned that the supply order was allocated to Ms. Kraft Work Pvt Ltd, situated in Cochin.
